Transit Supervisor
Starting Salary: $47,290 

Job Summary: Join our team as a Transit Supervisor, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing vehicle operations and ensuring the safe and reliable transit service of our community. You will supervise transit operators, manage daily operations, and perform administrative tasks to maintain service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct oversight of transit operators on the street.
  • Observe driving skills and work performance of operators throughout the service area.
  • Ensure operators meet uniform, equipment, and licensing standards.
  • Monitor street operations for on-time performance and schedule adherence.
  • Maintain contact with operators via radio systems to control on-street service.
  • Ensure safety compliance by adhering to rules and SOPs for customers and employees.
  • Conduct road observations and respond to hazardous conditions affecting routes.
  • Implement alternative service and routing due to collisions or detours.
  • Assist dispatch and maintenance with vehicle change-outs in the field.
  • Support operators with service or passenger issues, coordinating with Transit Security as needed.
  • Oversee daily pre-trip and post-trip activities, ensuring bus cleanliness and maintenance coordination.
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, work assignments, and policy updates.
  • Review timesheet information for accuracy.
  • Manage fare collection, counting, and reporting.
  • Investigate customer complaints and complete related paperwork.
  • Conduct vehicle accident and incident investigations and documentation.
  • Perform essential Transit Operator functions, including driving routes as needed.
  • Serve as a transit dispatcher or customer service agent when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with bus driver training.
  • Minimum of three years of experience driving a passenger vehicle or related experience.
  • Proficient in using tablets, cellphones, computers, and related software.
  • Essential personnel classification and must pass a DOT physical examination.
  • Valid CDL Class B or C with passenger endorsement; air brake endorsement required within 60 days.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software applications (e.g., RouteMatch, Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as climbing bus steps and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and short-notice work.

  • Extensive knowledge of defensive driving techniques and safety guidelines.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and independent judgment application.
