What You’ll Do
The City of Fredericksburg's Commissioner of the Revenue seeks motivated interns for a paid position. This role offers hands-on experience in municipal tax and revenue operations. Ideal candidates will have basic business accounting and finance skills and be enrolled in or recently graduated from a related program. It’s a great opportunity to gain practical skills in revenue assessment and public administration.
Work assignments may consist of:
Tax and Financial Management
Help reconcile tax filings
Enter data into our system of record
Research and Data Analysis
Conduct research and compile data for proactive problem-solving
Public Administration
Organize and maintain public records
Handle basic inquiries from City staff and the public
Communication and Correspondence
Draft memos and correspondence
Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled, or recently graduated from, an undergraduate or graduate degree program in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or marketing
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public and city staff and to exercise sound judgment in decision making
Knowledge and skilled in Microsoft Office software, required
Ability to learn and comply with State and City tax code
Demonstrated adherence to ethics and confidentiality and ability to use good judgement
